Once we have identified your audience, messaging strategy, and appropriate Social Media platforms; the next step is to format the delivery strategy. RMS has developed a 7 stage delivery model that encompasses the basics of integrating a social media presence for you without it distracting your business from its primary purpose -- selling stuff !
The 7 stage delivery is outlined below:
- Decide which Platform[s] – which tools will we use.
- Create a Social Media Policy – Do you allow employees to tag their LinkedIn presence to your corporate subsidiary/entity? Who is allowed to speak on your organisations’ behalf? Who decides on the topics of interest? ... etc. etc.
- Develop Sales Triggers – The key for success.
- Monitoring and Measurement – Review existing messaging to determine which messages are resonating and which messages need refinement. In real-life, what can IT vendors expect from their Social Media infrastructure? What if you have a Corporate Social Media presence in Headquarters?
- Commitment from a dedicated Resource – gaining commitment from a dedicated resource is often difficult. Training them in the tools of the trade & corralling them is actually easy once they give that commitment to the cause.
- Development of Content – Don’t get bogged down in “content generation” spending a huge amount of time in the depths of development of whitepapers and the like. One of the biggest 'gotchas' in our experience is people saying "We're not ready yet ...but after we've built all the materials we are planning on building, then, - for sure - we will be ready". RMS has a brilliant strategy for ensuring this does not happen in the short or longer term. Trust us when we say that the most unique of all SMM campaigns do NOT start with 30x case studies and 20x whitepapers. Getting your audience to listen first is the most important thing.
